Summary





Lead the monthly closing process. This position will work closely with Managers, Directors, Store management and Executives to meet reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and ad hoc business analysis requirements. Additionally, this position is responsible for writing communication materials for external parties and the Board of Directors. Position will also be responsible for identifying issues and making process improvements. This position must be able to effectively manage staff and senior accountants.








Responsibilities:





· Lead the monthly close process including preparing/reviewing reconciliations to ensure financials are appropriately stated.


· Prepare, post and review journal entries.


· Support the transactions and fluctuations of the PL accounts with robust variance analysis.


· Responsible for store financial statements and statistics. Review the store financial statements and explain unusual fluctuations from budget and prior year.


· Respond to inquiries from the field on a timely basis. Must be able to understand the intent of the users of the financial statements. Provide information which is meaningful to the users.


· Responsible for fixed asset accounting including upkeep of FAS subledger, depreciation of database and analysis.


· Validate the accuracy and completeness of internal financial reports.


· Prepare ratios and other types of analytics to assist users of the financial statements, when needed.


· Lead the controllers group in preparing monthly financial packages for the monthly review and executive meetings.


· Able to work effectively with other departments, such as Accounts payables, Treasury, and Financial Systems.


· Manage staff and senior accountants.


· Communicate and work with external auditors during the annual audit.


· Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.


· Assist controllers group in preparation of annual budgets.

Qualifications:





· Bachelors Degree in business with a concentration in accounting.


· Certified Public Accountant


· Mix of public and private accounting preferred.


· Minimum 5 years experience in accounting, monthly close and preparation of various financial reports.


· Knowledge of MAS500, Hyperion, FAS and KWI Retail Systems a plus.
